NBC, ABC, CNN don’t carry Trump speech on networks

Major Networks Decline to Broadcast Trump’s Address Live

NBC ABC CNN don t carry – Several of America’s most prominent television networks have announced they will not air President Donald Trump’s upcoming speech on Thursday evening in real-time. Spokespeople for ABC News, NBC News, and CNN have confirmed the decision to their respective audiences, explaining that the networks will instead provide coverage through alternative digital channels and editorial updates throughout the evening.

The networks’ choice to withhold live broadcast coverage has sparked immediate debate about media responsibility and access to presidential communications. While the traditional linear television experience will be absent for viewers who prefer watching on their main channels, the networks have committed to providing comprehensive coverage through their digital ecosystems.

Streaming Alternatives and Expert Analysis

ABC News, NBC News, and CNN will each carry the president’s remarks on separate streaming platforms or through editorial live updates. This approach allows the networks to maintain editorial control while still delivering the content to their audiences. The decision reflects a broader trend in media where traditional broadcast slots are increasingly supplemented by digital-first coverage strategies.

A spokesperson for CNN provided additional details about their coverage plan, stating that the network will monitor Trump’s remarks as a significant “news event.” This monitoring will be coupled with analysis and commentary from experts in elections, intelligence, and the FBI. The network aims to provide viewers with informed perspectives on the claims being made during the address.

“A live feed of the speech, alongside analysis and expert commentary, will be available on CNN-dot-com and available on CNN’s All Access streaming platform,” the spokesperson noted. This multi-platform approach ensures that viewers who miss the traditional broadcast can still access the content through various digital means.

“Some of the facts that will be revealed in President Trump’s speech tonight are truly shocking,” Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt wrote in a social media post. “If the networks were truly serving the public interest they would air it and as a country we would collectively resolve to take action.”

Political Backlash and White House Response

White House officials and Republican lawmakers were quick to criticize the networks’ decision not to carry the speech on their main channels. The criticism came from multiple angles, with some focusing on the democratic implications of limiting access while others emphasized the political motivations behind the decision.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung was particularly vocal in his response, posting a message that directly addressed the networks’ choices. “Cowards. NBC and ABC don’t want you to hear the truth. All they want to do is hide the facts from YOU,” Cheung wrote in a social media post ahead of Trump’s speech. The message was clear in its accusation that the networks were actively suppressing information from the American public.

Cheung continued his critique by highlighting the White House’s own digital presence. “Tune in @WhiteHouse at 9:00pm EDT, where we always get bigger ratings than any of the networks,” he added. This comparison served to position the White House’s direct-to-consumer approach as both more popular and more authentic than traditional network coverage.

Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt (R) similarly slammed the networks’ decision not to take Trump’s speech live on their main channels. The senator’s criticism focused on the potential consequences of not airing the speech, suggesting that important information would be withheld from voters who needed it.

Trump has teased “big news” ahead of this speech, in which he is expected to address his previous unsubstantiated claims of widespread election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. The former president lost to former President Joe Biden in that contest, but has continued to challenge the results through various legal and political channels.

In his address, the president accused these media networks of being “a part” of this alleged voter fraud scheme. “They want to continue this fraud for whatever reason,” Trump said. “They want to keep it going. They want to protect the radical left.” The president then called for the networks’ broadcast licenses, which are regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to be revoked on account of what he alleges is their complicity.

“Fraud like this should mean a revocation of their licenses. They use our public multi-billion-dollar-in-value airwaves for absolutely no money. They pay nothing. All we want is honesty in our elections and honesty in reporting,” he said. This call for license revocation represents one of the more aggressive demands made by the president against the media establishment.
