Trump threatens to launch big attack – President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning that the United States may soon conduct another substantial military strike against Iran, while simultaneously suggesting the possibility of reinstating a naval blockade in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. These declarations came less than a full day following American military operations launched in response to Iranian aggression against commercial shipping vessels in the region.
Direct Threats from Ankara
Speaking from Ankara, Turkey on Wednesday, the president addressed reporters regarding the likelihood of additional American attacks. His remarks conveyed both confidence and determination regarding U.S. military posture toward Tehran.
“You know, normally I wouldn’t tell you, but you know what, there’s not a thing they can do about it,” Trump stated when questioned about forthcoming operations. “So, the answer is probably.”
The president further elaborated on his intentions, noting that he would provide advance notice before the next wave of strikes. He emphasized that while he would deliver a powerful response that evening, the ultimate outcome remained to be seen. Trump also made clear his dissatisfaction with Iran’s current leadership structure.
“I’ll give them a little warning: We’re going to hit them hard tonight, but we’ll see how it all works out,” the president explained, adding that he is not “happy” with Iran’s leadership.
Naval Blockade Considerations
One of the most significant developments Trump raised was the potential reimposition of a naval blockade, which had been suspended following diplomatic progress. Last month, Iran and the United States concluded a memorandum of understanding designed to de-escalate tensions and bring the conflict to a close.
The American military’s enforcement efforts during the previous blockade period demonstrated considerable effectiveness. According to official reports, U.S. forces successfully redirected 142 commercial vessels that adhered to American warnings operating within the region. Additionally, nine ships that failed to comply with directives were disabled during the operation.
“We may put down the blockade, we may put it back to blockade, and it’ll only be a blockade for Iran,” Trump declared, emphasizing that any renewed restrictions would specifically target Iranian shipping.
Pentagon Readiness for Escalation
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reinforced the administration’s position by stating that the Pentagon stands prepared to intensify military operations against Iran should the president authorize further action. Hegseth indicated that future strikes could be both more extensive and reach deeper into Iranian territory.
The recent military campaign, which commenced on Tuesday evening, represented a comprehensive assault on Iranian capabilities. U.S. Central Command reported that precision munitions struck more than eighty distinct targets across multiple categories of military infrastructure. These targets encompassed air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar installations, and anti-ship missile batteries. Notably, the operation also neutralized over sixty small boats belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps positioned both inside and near the Strait of Hormuz.
These strikes served as direct retaliation for Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that had been navigating the strait in recent days, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to protecting international maritime commerce.

Trump outlined several additional targets that American forces could potentially engage, including Iran’s critical desalination facilities. While acknowledging the strategic value of these plants, the president expressed personal reluctance to target them.
The president also confirmed that U.S. military forces had struck Kharg Island during the recent operations but deliberately spared its extensive oil infrastructure. This facility is crucial to Iran’s economy, handling approximately ninety percent of the nation’s crude oil exports. Looking beyond immediate military objectives, Trump suggested that the United States might consider taking control of the island, which sits within the Persian Gulf and holds significant strategic importance for regional maritime operations.
