During a July press briefing, the president revealed that Sikorsky Aircraft—the manufacturer of the VH-92A Patriot and a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin—would cover the entire financial burden of the project. When questioned about the arrangement, Trump offered a candid explanation.

“Sikorsky is paying for it, you know why?” he asked reporters. “Because they didn’t tell us how powerful these helicopters were and they felt a little bit guilty.”
