Local Woman Killed in Fatal Dog Attack at Home

Essex Police confirmed the death of Jamie-Lea Biscoe, a 19-year-old woman, after she was attacked by a dog at her residence in Leaden Roding. The incident occurred at 22:45 BST on Friday, when officers arrived at Long Hide, a house in the village near Dunmow, to find her with life-threatening injuries.

Despite immediate medical intervention, the woman was declared dead at the scene. A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was detained on suspicion of allowing a dog to act dangerously out of control, resulting in a fatality. The canine was confiscated by authorities, and specialists secured the area to ensure safety.

A police barrier was still in place at the property on Sunday. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper expressed condolences, stating:

“This incident will come as a surprise to the community. My thoughts and those of the entire Essex Police team are with the family of the woman who passed away yesterday. Experienced detectives are now working to determine the full sequence of events.”

The police urged residents to share any video evidence, dashcam footage, or insights related to the case, referencing incident number 1419 from April 10. Meanwhile, St Michael and All Angels church announced plans to hold a prayer service and light candles at 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.
