Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Come Dancing Star to Avoid Rape Charges, Police Confirm
Hertfordshire Police announced on Tuesday that a celebrity associated with the BBC dance competition will not be charged with rape. The individual, whose name has not been disclosed, was taken into custody on 13 October 2025 but released on bail following an investigation. The decision, based on a review by detectives and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, concluded there was “not enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges.”
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police stated. “The man, whose bail was extended until Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”
The Sun had previously reported that the man was accused of raping a woman after a BBC event. According to the publication, the woman was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show but had connected with him through his involvement in the competition. It is clear the incident is unrelated to the current series, which airs from September to December and is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.
Earlier in the year, another individual linked to the popular programme was also arrested on suspicion of rape in August. The Metropolitan Police at that time indicated the person was also under investigation for “non-consensual intimate image abuse.” The role of this second individual in the show remains undisclosed.
