Following the discovery of a woman’s corpse near a private members’ club on the River Thames, authorities have initiated a murder investigation. A 44-year-old man has been detained by police at the scene.
Search underway in Henley-on-Thames
Emergency services are scouring the River Thames in Henley-on-Thames, south Oxfordshire, after the body was located. The location, Phyllis Court Drive, was the site of the incident just before 8 a.m. on Friday.
‘Detective Inspector Rob Underhill stated that the investigation is currently in its preliminary phase. However, a suspect has been apprehended, and no additional individuals are being pursued at this time.’
The private members’ club has temporarily shut down, as noted on its website, due to ongoing police activity in the vicinity. Officers have set up a scene watch, ensuring heightened surveillance as the inquiry progresses.
‘A spokesperson for the police force confirmed the murder probe began after a woman was found dead in Henley-on-Thames. Around 7:50 a.m. today, responders were dispatched to Phyllis Court Drive following the incident.’
