Child dies in dog attack, police say
Child Dies in Suspected Dog-Related Incident
Authorities confirmed the death of a child following a suspected dog-related incident. Police were called to an address in Dormanstown, Redcar, around 1:30 PM local time after receiving a report of a child in peril. Upon arrival, the child was found deceased, with officials indicating a dog bite was likely the cause.
Cleveland Police reported that one dog was killed on the street, while a second was taken into custody at the residence. The North East Ambulance Service deployed three crews, and one individual was hospitalized for further treatment. The BBC inquired about the child’s age and the breeds of the dogs involved, which police have yet to disclose.
Redcar and Cleveland’s district commander, Emily Harrison, stated that officers remained at the scene as an investigation unfolded. “This is a distressing and tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the child’s family,” she said.
“I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to speak to an officer.”
