AA fined and ordered to refund learner drivers for hidden fees
AA and BSM Driving Schools Ordered to Refund Learner Drivers for Unrevealed Costs
The Automobile Association Developments, which operates AA and BSM driving schools, has been penalized £4.2 million and mandated to refund thousands of learner drivers after concealing the full cost of lessons during online bookings. This decision follows a probe by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
Over 80,000 customers affected by the pricing oversight will collectively receive £760,000 in refunds. The average compensation per learner is estimated at £9. The CMA highlighted that the AA admitted to violating consumer laws and accepted the penalty to resolve the case.
“The AA acknowledged their breach of regulations and agreed to settle the dispute,” stated the CMA in their official communication.
