Many countries favor China and Xi over – A comprehensive new study released by the Pew Research Center reveals a significant transformation in international sentiment. According to the data published on Wednesday, global perceptions of the United States and its current president, Donald Trump, are deteriorating at a rapid pace. Conversely, China and its paramount leader, Xi Jinping, are experiencing a surge in positive regard, signaling a notable reversal in worldwide diplomatic attitudes.
The findings underscore a mounting difficulty for Washington to maintain its traditional sway over international affairs. This challenge arises as Beijing secures greater approval across multiple continents, including Asia, Europe, and the Western Hemisphere, while American standing simultaneously plummets. Political figures from both parties within the U.S. Congress, alongside the Trump administration, have cautioned that Xi’s strategic goals to position China as a preeminent economic and military power pose a direct threat to American security and economic stability.
Survey Methodology and Scope
The research initiative encompassed more than 42,000 individuals spanning 36 distinct nations. Participants were asked to share their perspectives on Trump and Xi, their respective foreign policy strategies, and how each nation upholds personal liberties. The data collection period ran from February 8 through May 13. Earlier in the month, Pew had already shared preliminary results highlighting overwhelmingly negative global impressions of America and its leader.
