He further claimed that the same chemicals used to harm the National Mall had been applied to the Reflecting Pool. “No different than the chemicals that were used on the National Mall, they used something similar in the Reflecting Pool to try to destroy and demean our beautiful work,” Trump said, illustrating his belief that the vandalism was intentional and damaging to the city’s image.
